Tile Adhesives & Mortars: what to buy and how to use it
Adhesives and mortars for tiling, stone and brickwork, chosen for the jobs that come up most often on Irish sites.
Fixing tiles. Sopro S-Flex gel adhesive is the one to reach for with underfloor heating, large format tiles or anywhere the substrate will move a little. The white version goes under glass, marble and light natural stone, where a grey adhesive would shadow through.
Grouting. Atlas Elastic Grout covers joints from 1 to 7mm and comes in 28 colours, with the full chart on the product page. For stone and brick slips the heavier Atlas grouting mortar and K Dash in white fill the deeper joints that tile grout cannot. See the pointing guide for quantities.
Levelling walls. Cekol ZW-04 takes out 3 to 50mm in a single pass, which saves a lot of adhesive when a wall is badly out.
