Polyurethane foam adhesive for fixing EPS boards and mineral wool slabs in Ceresit Ceretherm external wall insulation systems. One can covers roughly 10 square metres.
The appeal is time. A cement adhesive needs to cure before boards can be fixed mechanically or sanded flat, which on a cold damp week in Ireland can mean losing a day between operations. Foam grabs quickly, so boards can be fixed and the surface worked the same day. On a small elevation that difference can take a whole day off the job.
It also keeps the site cleaner. No mixing, no water, no bucket and paddle, and nothing to throw away when the mix goes off before you have used it.
Foam suits sound, reasonably flat substrates. Where a wall is badly out, Ceresit ZU 2-in-1 is the better choice because a cement adhesive can be dubbed out to take up the difference. Either way the boards still need mechanical fixings once the adhesive has set.
