Product details
Mesh sheet for an abrasive sanding float, fixed with the wing bolts on the float body.
220 grit is the finishing pass. Use it where the light will be unforgiving: walls facing a window, anything taking a silk or satin paint, or a surface that will be lit from the side. It barely cuts, so it will not fix a flaw, only polish out the last of the scratch marks.
Mesh beats paper on plaster for one practical reason: the dust falls through the holes instead of filling them. Paper clogs within a few strokes on gypsum and then burnishes the surface rather than cutting it, which is why a sheet that looks fine stops working after a minute.
Work the float in overlapping circles with light pressure and let the grit do the work. Leaning on it digs hollows that only show up once the paint is on.
We stock 100, 150, 180 and 220 grit. The grit progression guide explains the order to use them in, and which steps you can skip on a good skim.
